I have heard bad things about the stock limited slip unit the the 3rd generation Dodge Ram 1500s. I have also heard that the problem was corrected in the last few years. Does my 2007 with the 9.25 axle have the C clip issues, or have they been resolved? Thanks.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy). Thank you for asking your question on Just Answer.

I went through all the TSBs to see if there were any known issues with the 07 R1500 axles and did not find anything. I would recommend taking it to the dealer and asking them to do a recall check on your truck to see if there are any open recalls that need to be done. Also you can ask them to check to see if there are TSBs about the issue you are speaking of (cause there system does updated TSBs faster then what I use).

Do you have access to part numbers for the limited slip unit? If so, could you tell me if the number has changed in the last few years? That is what I've been searching for online, but can't seem to find any part numbers for the LSD unit. From what I hear, Dodge will not fess up to this problem, even though the word on the forums is that it's been going on for years. Thanks.
