I recently purchased a 99 1500 ram club cab 4X4. for no reason at all the o/d off light came on them a few miles later the trans temp light came on. Got home started it up after only about 30 sec and trans temp light was off but o/d off light was still on. let it set fro 15 min and started it and everything was fine. when the o/d off light is on it seems to shift into o/d but the torque converter doesn''t seem to lock up? any one got any advice or clues on this problem?

It's probably the trans temp sensor going bad when the trans shows hi temps the computer will turn the o-drive off to try and cool the trans. There has been alot of problems with this sensor it also reads the trans governor pressure. #5 is the sensor I would also replaced the governor pressure solenoid also why i was in there it has been giving alot of problems also that is #4.Images available only to Customers.

The problem occurred the first time without towing anything. the next time it occured while towing. With the second occurance, the O/D off light came on and went off at various times and the trans temp light came on i believe twicw during the 190 mile trip. So this sensor being bad will cause the o/d off light to come on before the trans temp light? Then when the sensor detects a cool enough temp the O/D works properly? Just want to make sure we understand each other.

Yes that is correct the sensor turns off the o/d to try and cool the trans.
